The Pipeline Arts Foundation has awarded $125,000 to seven new musicals for further development.
More than 300 shows completed the blind submission process. Winners receive cash prizes to use as they see fit during the development process.
鈥淭his year鈥檚 winners all involve vastly different subjects; from AI to addiction to grief to mythology,鈥� said Carin Wagner of Pipeline. 鈥淔ormats run the gamut from podcast to song cycle. We hit the jackpot this year!鈥�
The $25,000 winner was Performing Filipina, with a book, music, and lyrics by Lianah Sta. Ana. $20,000 winners included Eight Immortals, with music and lyrics by Sam Tsui and Casey Breves; The Eternity Machine, with a book, music, and lyrics by Asher Muldoon; The Jury, with a book and lyrics by Casey Kendall and music by Jonathan Bauerfeld; and ROJA, with a book by Tommy Newman and music and lyrics by Newman and Jaime Lozano. $10,000 winners were The Real Kyle McCarren, with a book by Andy Roninson and music and lyrics by Roninson and Sean McVerry; and The Unsolved & Forgotten Crimes of Sullivan County鈥�, with a book, music, and lyrics by Allison Light and Andrew Underberg,
Applications for the 2026 cycle will open in the fall. Artists can sign up to be notified when the submission window opens .
The not-for-profit Pipeline Arts Foundation was created to move musical theatre forward and is focused on supporting the development of innovative work by emerging and mid-career theatre makers.
