Sean Hayes isn't the only one who will be reprising his performance in Good Night, Oscar in London's West End! Ben Rappaport, who starred as Jack Paar in the Doug Wright play's 2023 Broadway bow, will cross the pond for the upcoming run at London's Barbican Theatre. Performances of the seven-week run will begin July 31 and continue through September 21. Opening night will be August 6.
Also back from the Broadway run is Max Roll, who will again understudy Oscar Levant and Bob Sarnoff. The rest of the cast will be new for this staging, with Daniel Adeosun as Alvin Finney, David Burnett as George Gershwin, Richard Katz as Bob Sarnoff, and Eric Sirakian as Max Weinbaum. Additional understudies will include Tashinga Bepete, Ben Butler, Charlotte Hunter, and Ryan Speakman.
Hayes is reprising his Tony-winning performance as actor, pianist, and personality Oscar Levant, the stage and screen star's West End debut.
The work, which takes place backstage and on set of a 1958 episode of the Jack Paar Tonight Show, with Levant picked as the headlining guest, made its world premiere in 2022 at Chicago's Goodman Theatre before bowing on Broadway in 2023; both starred Hayes as Levant. Hayes won the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for the performance.
Lisa Peterson will return to direct after staging the Broadway bow.
