There is finally a premiere date for the live stage film of Disney's Frozen. Captured before the West End bow of the musical closed last year with Samantha Barks starring as Elsa, the film will premiere on streamer Disney+ June 20.
News of the filming broke last year at fan convention D23.
The show opened at Theatre Royal Drury Lane September 8, 2021, and completed a three-year run September 8, 2024, having been seen by more than 2.8 million people. Adapted from Disney's 2013 animated film, the musical crossed the pond after a 2018 Broadway bow that closed during the pandemic shutdown. Michael Grandage directed.
The London production received four Olivier nominations, including Best New Musical.
