London News Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo Sets European Premiere

The production is one of seven announced by London's Young Vic for their 2025-2026 season.

London's Young Vic Theatre has revealed the inaugural season from their new artistic director and CEO, Nadia Fall.

The season will feature a mixture of reimagined classics, new premieres, and international productions. Running September 2025 through July 2026, the season will include seven productions in all, with six led by directors making their Young Vic directorial debuts.

In the Main House theatre, Fall will open the season by directing Tamzin Outhwaite (Abigail鈥檚 Party) and Daniel Cerqueira (A Gentleman in Moscow) in Joe Orton鈥檚 queer cult classic Entertaining Mr Sloane. The production will run September 15-November 8.

Next, Rajiv Joseph鈥檚 Pulitzer nominated Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo will, at long last, receive its European premiere. Directed by Omar Elerian (Rhinoceros), the new production stars Olivier and BAFTA winner David Threlfall (Hangmen), Olivier nominee Arinz茅 Kene (Misty), Ammar Haj Ahmad (The Jungle) and Hala Omran (I Medea). The production will run December 2, 2025-January 31, 2026.

In 2026, Olivier nominee Jordan Fein (Fiddler on the Roof) will direct a revival of Arthur Miller鈥檚 rarely-performed play Broken Glass. Set in Brooklyn in 1938 and written in response to the rise of fascism in Europe, Broken Glass is a passionate story about the consequences of disconnecting with reality. The production will run February 21-April 18, 2026.

Lastly, Alexander Zeldin (The Other Place) will both write and direct the U.K. premiere CARE. Co-produced with A Zeldin Company, CARE is an examination of the realities of aging and the elusive connection between loss and rebirth. The production will run May 11-April 18, 2026.

In addition to the Main House programming, the Maria Studio will provide a home to theatre that falls under the gig, installation, or development label.

Obie Award-winning duo Abigail and Shaun Bengson (The Bengsons)'s new musical, Ohio, will be staged September 30-October 24, 2025. Directed by Caitlin Sullivan, Ohio is a true story about losing faith and finding hope in the darkest of places, using evocative indie-folk music to expose true vulnerability. Prior to the run at the Young Vic's Maria Studio, the piece will debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025. Ohio is produced by Francesca Moody Productions and piece by piece productions in association with the Young Vic.

Next up, theatre/XR director Sacha Wares and editor of Disability News Service John Pring will present a mixed-reality installation titled Museum of Austerity. The installation shines a light on the human stories of Austerity Britain, laying bare the consequences when state safety nets fail. The installation is an ETT, Trial and Error Studio, and the National Theatre co-production, presented in association with the Young Vic, and supported by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. The installation will be on view December 5, 2025-January 16, 2026.

Finally, Sophie Swithinbank (Bacon), winner of the 2023 Peggy Ramsay/Film4 Award and the Sonia Friedman Productions Prize for Best Play, will present the world premiere of her new play Sting. Running June 18-July 18, 2026, the piece will be directed by Nancy Medina (A Good House).

This season, The JMK Award will return to the Young Vic, offering an early career director the opportunity to direct a full-scale professional play in the Young Vic鈥檚 Maria Studio. Applications for the Award will open in autumn 2025.
