Readings and Workshops Cecilia Gentili's Red Ink, Sylvan Oswald's Pony, More Revealed For NYC Pride Plays 2025

This year, Pride Plays is partnering with longtime collaborator Rattlestick Theater to present these works free to the public.

The lineup for this year's NYC Pride Plays has been announced, presented by producers Sam Gravitte, Sammy Lopez, and Ibi Owolabi with the support of original founders Michael Urie, Doug Nevin, and Nick Mayo. Partnering with longtime collaborator Rattlestick Theater, this year's Pride Plays will take place June 23 at The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space.

First in the lineup will be the late Cecilia Gentili鈥檚 Red Ink, directed by Nic Cory and presented in association with Breaking the Binary Theatre. Part stand-up, part camp, it follows a young trans girl as she navigates the hilarity of rural Argentina during the 19[redacted]s.

Sylvan Oswald's Pony will be presented with direction by Will Davis. In it, Pony, a formerly incarcerated trans guy, moves to a small rural town to start a new life, he quickly becomes entangled with its isolated community. He starts to fall for a waitress who is obsessed with a local murder; his social worker doesn鈥檛 understand him; and he is pursued by a young trans man who thinks Pony could be the father he always wanted.

Regan Moro's Tremolo will be presented in association with Fault Line Theatre. Sivan Battat will direct the radical queer reimagining of Chekhov鈥檚 The Seagull set on the dock of a dark lake鈥攁nd a singular exploration of an intergenerational found family on the precipice of great loss.

Arun Wellandawe-Prematilleke's The One Who Loves You So will be presented with direction by Emma Went. It centers on Vidhura, a trust-fund baby slumming it in a rundown studio apartment, and Nick, a British expat chasing hedonism abroad. When the two men meet for a casual Grindr hookup, what is meant to be a one-night stand turns into something wholly unexpected.

Casting for the plays will be announced shortly.
