The U.K. premiere of Muriel's Wedding the Musical, which began performances April 11, continues through May 10 at Leicester's Curve. Get a first look at the production in the gallery below.

Simon Phillips (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) directs the Made at Curve and Global Creatures co-production with choreography by Andrew Hallsworth (Priscilla Queen of the Desert).

Megan Ellis, whose regional theatre credits include Spring Awakening, Rent, Carrie, and more, stars in the title role joined by Annabel Marlow (Six the Musical) as Rhonda Epinstall, Darren Day as Bill Heslop, Laura Medforth as Betty Heslop, Jacob Warner as Perry Heslop, Joseph Peacock as Malcolm Heslop, Lena Pattie Jones as Joanie Heslop, Helen Hill as Tania, Lillie-Pearl Wildman as Cheryl, Jasmine Beel as Nicole, Daisy Twells as Janine, Ethan Pascal Peters as Brice, Stephen Madsen as Alexander Schkuratov, Chris Bennett as Ken, Bronte Alice-Tadman as Deidre and Frida, Jasmine Hackett as Agnetha, Aaron Tsindos as Benny, and Jamie Doncaster as Bj枚rn.

The company also includes Edward Turner, Carlo Boumouglbay, Andrew Berlin, Sophie Linder-Lee, Charlotte O鈥橰ourke, Lizzie Nance, Serina Mathew, Will Luckett, and Jamil Abbasi.

PJ Hogan, who wrote the screenplay for the 1994 film, has penned the book for the musical, which features a score by Kate Miller-Heidke and Keir Nuttall as well as additional songs by Benny Andersson, Bj枚rn Ulvaeus, and Stig Anderson that were originally written for ABBA.

The musical follows Muriel, who is stuck in a dead-end life in Porpoise Spit but dreams of the perfect wedding. Unfortunately, there鈥檚 one thing missing: a groom. Following her dreams to Sydney, Muriel ends up with everything she ever wanted, but that's when things start to go really wrong.

The production also has set design by Matthew Kinley, costume design by Gabriela Tylesova, video design and creation by Andrzej Goulding, lighting design by Natasha Chivers, sound design by Adam Fisher, hair, wig, and makeup design by Campbell Young Associates, and musical supervision, orchestrations, arrangements, and additional music by Isaac Hayward. Casting is by Stuart Burt.

Winner of five Helpmann Awards, seven Sydney Theatre Awards, an Awgie Award, the 2018 David Williamson Prize, and an ARIA Award Nomination, Muriel's Wedding the Musical celebrated its world premiere in a co-production with the Sydney Theatre Company in November 2017 and returned with an Australian tour in 2019.

The original film featured Toni Colette, Rachel Griffiths, Jeanie Drynan, Sophie Lee, and Bill Hunter.
