News Ian McKellen Discusses Laura Linney, Alan Turing and Coming Out (Video) Sir Ian McKellen, most recently on Broadway in the revival of No Man's Land, was a recent guest on PBS' "Charlie Rose."

McKellen on Alan Turing
McKellen describes a poignant visit he took to Alan Turing's old public school. Turing was a mathematical genius (credited with inventing the first working computer) and British codebreaker/war hero. He was arrested for homosexuality in 1952 and subsequently sentenced to chemical castration. Turing committed suicide in 1954.
