The next edition of Classic Stage Company's Classics Up Close series will celebrate Fiddler on the Roof and She Loves Me songwriters Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick. The benefit concert will perform at Symphony Space May 12, with Daniel Goldstein directing and Seth Rudetsky music directing.
On hand to perform will be Kate Baldwin (Love Life), Tony winner Santino Fontana (Tootsie), Adam Kantor (The Band's Visit), Marc Kudisch (Floyd Collins), Judy Kuhn (Fun Home), and more to be announced.
Proceeds will benefit the Off-Broadway company and its programming.
Bock and Harnick's Broadway collaboration lasted for more than 50 years, beginning with The Body Beautiful in 1958. Their sophomore effort, Fiorello!, was a Pulitzer winner, with later collaborations including Tenderloin, She Loves Me, Fiddler on the Roof, Baker Street, The Apple Tree, and The Rothschilds. Composer Bock died in 2010, and lyricist Harnick passed away in 2023.
The May 12 performance will be followed by a cast, sponsor, and donor reception.
