Another slate of Broadway notables has joined the roster of artists who will appear at this year's International Thespian Festival, set to be held at Bloomington, Indiana's Indiana University June 22β�27.
Stephen Schwartz and screenwriter-producer Philip LaZebnik will attend in support of the forthcoming Main Stage performance of their musical The Prince of Egypt, coming to the Festival via Rock Ridge Performing Arts in Ashburn, Virginia. Schwartz will also attend the Theatre Education Conference's Awards Ceremony to present the ASCAP Stephen Schwartz Musical Theatre Teacher of the Year Award.
Also joining the festivities will be Tony-winning producer Jeffrey Seller, to discuss his upcoming memoir Theater Kid; Kimberly Marable (Chicago, Hadestown) to host the Educator Appreciation Dinner; Carly Hughes (Chicago, Pippin), to host the Festival's Closing Ceremony and teach an audition coaching workshop; PigPen Theatre Company (Water for Elephants), to host an artistic panel; How to Dance in Ohio composer Jacob Yandura and producer Paul Canaan, to lead workshops on bringing accessibility to the stage, songwriting, and musical theatre dance; playwright Peter Gil-Sheridan, to workshop a developmental staged reading of his play Retreat; and TikTok vocal coach and Broadway alum Jodie Langel, to give a workshop.
As previously announced, Suffs writer and star Shaina Taub will also be on hand to receive the EdTA Founders' Award and take part in a keynote conversation at TEC.
Beyond main stage performances, ITF offers a one-act festival, hundreds of interactive workshops, and a college fair with admission auditions linking students to top theatre programs. Participants can also engage in a developmental workshop of a commissioned one-act play with Stage Partners, collaborate on an original piece with The 24 Hour Plays, and more.
