News Matilda Movie Adaptation Likely to Begin Shooting in Late 2016 Matilda The Musical director Matthew Warchus told the Sydney Morning Herald Aug. 18 that the movie adaptation of the hit Broadway and London musical Matilda is now in pre-production and is likely to start filming in late 2016.

No other details were offered.

In a separate July 19 interview with the in his native Australia, composer confirmed that there is a movie version of Matilda in the works and that he will write additional music for it.

Kelly Guiod, Broadway spokesperson for the show, previously confirmed that the film project was being discussed but was not in production at that time.
