Monologist Mike Daisey (The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs) premieres his new monologue, The Trump Card, in New York today. The brand-new show will chronicle presidential candidate Donald Trump鈥檚 story from his early days to his nomination as the Republican candidate for president.
As previously announced, he premiered the show at Philadelphia's FringeArts festival July 14. He will perform the show July 24 and August 28 at Joe鈥檚 Pub in New York, and August 2-7 at Woolly Mammoth in Washington.
鈥淒aisey takes on the reigning world heavyweight of self-mythologizing, the short-fingered vulgarian who captured a nation鈥檚 heart through bullying, charm, one-syllable explosions, and occasionally telling the brutal truth,鈥 state online production notes.
The show intends to illuminate Trump鈥檚 role in the rise of 鈥渄ark money鈥 in the U.S., billing him as a 鈥渘ew American archetype鈥攖he very first rich man famous exclusively for being rich.鈥
Since debuting his first monologue in 1997, Daisey has created and performed numerous shows throughout the country and internationally, including All the Faces of the Moon, which played at the Public Theater in 2013.
