Reiner, who received his bachelor鈥檚 degree in communications from Loyola Marymount University in 1998, will manage NEA grantmaking in theatre and musical theatre and represent the agency to the field.

鈥淥ne of the most exciting moments in my career was getting to know theatre-makers across the nation through the launch of The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later, and realizing the collective power of the American theatre field,鈥� added Reiner. 鈥淚鈥檓 incredibly humbled and excited for the opportunity to serve this community through my new role at the NEA.鈥�
Prior to CSC, Reiner was founding executive director of in New York City, where he received a Tony nomination for Best Play as one of the producers of . He has also served as managing director at The Actors鈥� Gang in Culver City, CA, and at the Shakespeare Festival/LA.
The National Endowment for the Arts, according to press notes, "offers grants to the nonprofit theatre and musical theatre fields for the production or presentation of traditional or classical repertoire, new plays and musicals, development laboratories, showcases, artist residencies, work for young audiences, experimental work, community-based work, outdoor historical dramas, and puppetry."
