Bonlo LLC will present an invitation-only industry reading of the new musical Time Stops May 30 at Manhattan Theatre Club Studios in New York City.
Directed by Chad Larabee, the cast will feature Elizabeth Stanley (Jagged Little Pill), two-time Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Catch Me If You Can), James T. Lane (Chicago), Sal Viviano (The Full Monty), Elizabeth Ward Land (Memphis), Alan Chandler, and Kirsten Kaiser. Evan Zavada is the musical director.
Time Stops, which has music and lyrics by Brett Boles and a book by Bonnie Logan, follows Emma Portman, a writer who has walked away from her career following unimaginable loss. When a burnt-out composer with one pop hit to his name walks through the door, their unexpected collaboration stirs up a past neither is ready to confront.
鈥淭his story is deeply personal,鈥� says librettist Logan in a statement. 鈥淚t鈥檚 about grief, yes鈥攂ut also about resilience, reinvention, and the courage it takes to start again.鈥�
Composer Boles is the creator of The M Tea, a viral TikTok/Instagram series with over 600,000 followers. His musical work has been featured Off-Broadway at the York Theatre Company, the Southwark Playhouse in London, and NYMF.
Tony winner Michael J. Moritz Jr. is the executive producer, Sydney Prince serves as stage manager, and ShowTown Theatricals provides general management.
