The Off-Broadway revival of Lonne Elder III's Ceremonies in Dark Old Men has extended its run at Theatre at St. Clements. The production opened April 18, and will now continue through June 29. Directed by Clinton Turner Davis, the production was previously scheduled to end its run May 18.
Elder's play is set in 1950s New York, centering on a widowed father, a barber who used to be a vaudeville performer whose life is thrown into turmoil when his daughter's long-standing resentments come to a head as his two sons' criminal enterprise unravels.
Norm Lewis leads the cast, joined by Felicia Boswell, James Foster, Jr., Morgan Siobhan Green, Jeremiah Packer, Calvin M. Thompson, and Bryce Michael Wood. Casting is by Robin Carus.
The work, a Pulitzer Prize nominee, premiered Off-Broadway in 1969 via Negro Ensemble Company, which is co-presenting this revival with Peccadillo Theater Company and Eric Falkenstein.
The production features scenic design by Harry Feiner, costume design by Isabel Rubio, lighting design by Jimmy Lawlor, and wig design by Jeff Knaggs. April Ann Kline serves as production stage manager, and Josh Iacovelli is production manager.
