Raymond Lee will appear in NBC's upcoming pilot Quantum Leap, a reboot of the 1989 sci-fi drama of the same name. The original series ran for five seasons on the broadcast network. He is set to play renowned physicist Dr. Ben Seong, according to .
The new series takes place 30 years after OG character Dr. Sam Beckett's disappearance. It follows a team taking over his project, aptly called Quantum Leap, in hopes of gaining new discoveries. It is teased that Dr. Seong will use the machine and get transported to the late 1980s, a heavy nod to the original series.
Lee is the not the first actor with stage credentials to lead Quantum Leap; original star Scott Bakula appeared on Broadway in Is There Life After High School?, Marilyn, and Romance/Romance before joining the sci-fi series.
Creative duo Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt will write and executive produce the reboot, following the success of God Friended Me and Le Brea. Blindspot's Martin Gero will also executive produce alongside the original series alums, creator Don Bellisario and producer and narrator Deborah Pratt.
While known for his television performances in Kevin Can F**k Himself and Prodigal Son, Lee also starred in the Off-Broadway production of Qui Nguyen's Vietgone. The play premiered at Manhattan Theatre Club in 2016 with direction by May Adrales.
