Winners of the 2025 Chita Rivera Awards were honored May 19 at NYU Skirball in a ceremony hosted by original Hairspray stars Laura Bell Bundy, Kerry Butler, and Marissa Jaret Winokur.

Named after late Tony winner Chita Rivera鈥攚ho originated some of Broadway's best-known dance-heavy lead roles, including Anita in West Side Story and Velma in 颁丑颈肠补驳辞鈥�the awards celebrate dance and choreographic excellence and achievement.

Kevin Csolak, who plays Tulsa in the current Audra McDonald-led Broadway revival of Gypsy, and Robyn Hurder, who stars as Ivy Lynn in Smash, both picked up the award for Outstanding Dancer in a Broadway Show. The Outstanding Choreography in a Broadway Show honor went to Patricia Delgado and Justin Peck for Buena Vista Social Club; the new musical at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre also earned the prize for Outstanding Ensemble in a Broadway Show.

The Awarding Committee of the 2025 Chita Rivera Awards also celebrated excellence in Off-Broadway musical theatre by presenting a special award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Choreography to Arturo Lyons and Omari Wiles for the recent Ballroom-inspired Cats: 鈥淭he Jellicle Ball.鈥�

Tony winner Ben Vereen received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and David Neumann (Swept Away) received the Douglas and Ethel Watt Critics鈥� Choice Award.

Presenters included Tituss Burgess, Donna Murphy, Savion Glover, Nathan Lee Graham, Shoshana Bean, Nicole Fosse, Noah Fosse, Liz Cho, Khori Petinaud, Lorna Luft, Stephanie Pope, Stephen Schwartz, and Vy Higginsen. The evening also featured performances from Broadway's BOOP! The Musical and the revival of Gypsy as well as The Verdon Fosse Legacy and The Sing Harlem Choir. 

The awards were produced by Joe Lanteri, founder and executive director of the New York City Dance Alliance Foundation, Inc., in conjunction with Patricia Watt.

All proceeds of the Chita Rivera Awards benefit the NYC Dance Alliance Foundation, which is committed to broadening performing arts awareness while advocating education and high standards of excellence in dance. This year, all funding and proceeds support the creation of a new Chita Rivera Training Scholarship, a program of NYCDAF.
