Kip Gamblin and Prinnie Stevens have joined the Australian premiere of The Bodyguard. They are set to star alongside Australian Idol star and pop singer Paulini Curuenavuli, better known as Paulini, who was previously announced to play the lead role.
The show will begin performances at Sydney鈥檚 Lyric Theatre on April 21. It will then play Brisbane鈥檚 Lyric Theatre beginning July 19 before moving to Melbourne in August at a yet-to-be-announced theatre. The Australian tour is produced by Michael Harrison, David Ian, and John Frost.
The Bodyguard musical, a stage version of the celebrated 1992 film that starred the late Whitney Houston, features the singer鈥檚 music, and a book by Oscar winner Alexander Dinelaris. It is based on Lawrence Kasdan鈥檚 script, with direction by Thea Sharrock.
The show is currently playing a national tour throughout the U.S., and will next play Chicago鈥檚 Oriental Theatre January 31鈥揊ebruary 12.
