International News See Who's Starring in U.K. Premiere of Come Fall in Love � The DDLJ Musical

The original film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is one of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinematic history, playing continuously in Mumbai since its release in 1995.

Come Fall in Love � The DDLJ Musical will make its U.K. premiere at Manchester Opera House later this spring, and a fresh faced company has been compiled!

The Manchester production will star Jena Pandya and Ashley Day as Simran and Rog, respectively. Pandya recently headlined Bhangra Nation at Birmingham Rep, and toured with Mamma Mia as Sophie. Day is a West End favorite, having starred in An American in Paris and The Book of Mormon, as well as appearing on Netflix's Dynasty

They are joined by  Irvine Iqbal (The Father and the Assassin) as Baldev, Kara Lane (The Addams Family) as Minky, Harveen Mann-Neary (Bend It Like Beckham) as Lajjo, Amonik Melaco (Austenland) as Ben, Millie O’Connell (SIX) as Cookie, Ankur Sabharwal (Snakes and Ladders) as Ajit, Kinshuk Sen (Come Fall in Love â€� The DDLJ Musical) as Kuljit, and Russell Wilcox (Exit The King) as Rog Sr.

Completing the cast are ensemble members Erica-Jayne Alden (A Christmas Carol: The Musical), Tash Bacarese-Hamilton (Frankie Goes to Bollywood), Scarlett Behl (Cinderella), Sophie Camble (Singin� in the Rain), Gabrielle Cocca (Frozen: The Musical), Rohan Dhupar (Mamma Mia!), Joe Django (All England Dance Gala), Alexander Emery (Love Never Dies), Kuldeep Goswami (Bhangra Nation), Ella Grant (Once Upon a Time Tour), Yasmin Harrison (Burlesque), Mohit Mathur (Beyond Bollywood), Tom Mussell (Burlesque), Purvi Parmar (Little Shop of Horrors), Saaj Raja (Best of Enemies), Manu Sarswat (Cake The Musical), Garrett Tennant (Mamma Mia!), Sonya Venugopal (Life of Pi), and swings Emily Goodenough (Sunny Afternoon), Marina Lawrence-Mahrra (The Secret Silk), Jordan Maisuria-Wake (Peter Pan).

The new musical is based on one of the biggest blockbuster films in the history of Indian cinema, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Running May 29-June 21, the U.K. production will be directed by Aditya Chopra, the original director of the Hindi-language film, which is the longest-running title in Indian cinema history, playing continuously in Mumbai since its release in 1995.

The show tells the story of Simran, a young British Indian woman whose future is set via an arranged marriage back in India to a family friend. When she convinces her strict father that she should spend a summer of freedom and fun in Europe, she falls in love with Rog, a rich, charming British boy who is her father’s worst nightmare. As carefree Rog endeavors to win over her traditional father, heritage and heart go to war.

The creative team will include book writer and lyricist Nell Benjamin (Mean Girls, Legally Blonde), composers Vishal Dadlani and Sheykhar Ravjiani, choreographer Rob Ashford (Frozen, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), associate Indian choreographer Shruti Merchant (Ladies vs. Ricky Bahl, Taj Express), scenic designer Derek McLane (MJ the Musical, Moulin Rouge! The Musical) and casting director David Grindrod for Grindrod Burton Casting.

The World Premiere of Come Fall in Love was produced in 2022 at The Old Globe in San Diego, California.
