A Moment of Recognition
When students are seen, valued, and inspired, everything changes. That belief has driven since day one. And now, a major milestone is propelling the organization into its next chapter.
This spring, Situation Project received a special grant from , an initiative focused on supporting programs that strengthen local communities. The award recognizes Situation Project鈥檚 mission to provide transformative access to the cultural and professional experiences that shape how students see their futures.
For thousands of public school students across New York City, these experiences鈥攐ften their first Broadway show, first college workshop, or first professional mentorship panel鈥攃an spark a deeper sense of possibility and self-worth.
鈥淚鈥檓 a product of the public school system, so this one hits close to home,鈥 said Damian Bazadona, Founder & President of Situation Project. 鈥淭his isn鈥檛 just a win for Situation Project, it鈥檚 a win for the kids who show up, raise their hands, and remind us what鈥檚 possible when they鈥檙e given a shot.鈥

Access Is the First Step
Each year, Situation Project partners with public schools, arts organizations, and higher education institutions to bring students into spaces where they can imagine themselves thriving. What begins as a field trip often becomes something bigger: a new interest, a future aspiration, a lasting sense of belonging.
鈥淲e believe in the power of these experiences to open doors,鈥 said Samara Berger, Executive Director of Situation Project. 鈥淔rom walking into a Broadway theater for the first time to hearing directly from college students and professionals who share their backgrounds, these moments send a powerful message: you belong here.鈥
At a time when arts and education programs are facing compounding financial pressures, this grant affirms the public value of cultural access. It signals what鈥檚 possible when the barriers between students and opportunity begin to break down.
Help Situation Project Open More Doors for More Students
Each year, helps students rewrite what鈥檚 possible for their futures鈥攐ne performance, one panel, one moment of belonging at a time. As funding for arts and education continues to shrink, individual support has never mattered more. If you believe every student deserves a seat at the table, consider today.
