
Kaufman was originally announced to join the cast Nov. 4. He will remain with the Broadway production through Jan. 4, 2015.
Pippin is directed by Tony Award winner and features choreography by Tony Award nominee in the style of and circus creation by of the Montreal-based circus company Les 7 doigts de la main (7 Fingers).
The Broadway cast currently features Carly Hughs as the Leading Player, as Berthe, Tony Award nominee as Fastrada, as Charles, as Catherine and Tony Award winner Martin as Berthe.
Other members of the company include , Eli Tokash, , Kristin Allen, Mackenzie Bell, , , , Lauren Joy Herley, Na毛l Jammal, , , Sam Lips, Richard Maguire, , Adam Roberts, Masha Terentieva, and Young.
The tour cast features ("The Voice") as Leading Player, Tony Award winner (created the role of Pippin in the 1972 original Broadway production) as Charles, (Pippin) as Fastrada and (Wicked national tour) as Catherine. The company also includes Skyler Adams, Sascha Bachman, Bradley Benjamin, , , Mark Burrell, , Fernando Dudka, Mirela Golinska Roche, Kelsey Jamieson, Preston Jamieson, , Alan Kelly, Melodie Lamoreux, Zachary Mackiewicz, Lucas Schultz, Tory Trowbridge, Mackenzie Warren and Borris York.
The show will make its Washington, D.C., premiere at the Dec. 16-Jan. 4, 2015.
With a book by Roger Hirson and music and lyrics by , Pippin features music supervision and arrangements by Nadia DiGiallonardo, orchestrations by Tony Award winner , scenic design by Tony Award winner , costume design by Tony Award nominee , lighting design by Tony Award winner , sound design by Tony Award nominees Jonathan Deans and Garth Helm.
Pippin, according to press notes, "tells the story of a young prince on a death-defying journey to find meaning in his existence. Will he choose a happy but simple life? Or will he risk everything for a singular flash of glory?"
