Broadway veteran Jim Stanek will lead The REV Theatre Company's summer run of Cy Coleman, Michael Stewart, and Mark Bramble's Barnum, set to play the Auburn, New York, company July 9-26. Stanek, most recently seen on the Main Stem in the most recent revival of Into the Woods, will star in the title role, the politician-turned-circus impresario.
Co-starring will be Kelly McCormick as Charity Barnum and Chrissy Albanese as Jenny Lind, along with an ensemble comprising Lauren Emily Alagna, Alicia Albright, Gabriel Bommarito, Sawyer Coffin, Claudia Cooper, Andrew Fleming, Trey Harrington, Sophia Hillman, Scotty Jacobson, Karma Jenkins, Mason Derreck Lewis, Mitchell Lewis, Crystal Sha鈥檔ae, Katie Scarlett Swaney, and Carlita Vinciguerra. Casting is by Megan Larche Dominick.
REV Artistic Director Brett Smock will direct the revival. 鈥淭o undertake Barnum is no small feat鈥攁nd we鈥檙e excited to create a new production for our audiences this summer. In addition to a thrilling cast and creative team, The REV will partner with Ithaca-based Circus Culture to advise and create special circus features specifically for this production. Barnum is the perfect blend of great songs, light hearted storytelling, stylized staging, and thrilling circus influences to create a unique theatrical experience.鈥�
Smock will be joined on the creative team by choreographer Ryan VanDenBoom, music director Dan Mullarney, assistant music director Ben Kapilow, circus coordinator Amy Cohen of Circus Culture, scenic designer Milo Bue, lighting designer Dan Ozminkowski, sound designer Kyle Jensen, costume designer Tiffany Howard, hair and makeup designer Mary Tyler, and prop designer Marshall Pope. Nick Alteri will serve as production stage manager, with Terysa Malootian and Callista Veaughn as assistant stage manager.
REV's production of Barnum is being licensed by on behalf of Tams-Witmark.
The company's summer season also includes Top Hat, performing August 13-September 2; and Bonnie and Clyde, performing September 24-October 11.
