The Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical is the fifth in line to receive the live television musical event treatment from the Peacock network, following The Sound of Music, Peter Pan, The Wiz, and Hairspray.
The broadcast stars John Legend as Jesus and Sara Bareilles as Mary Magdalene. The cast also features Alice Cooper as King Herod, Ben Daniels as Pontius Pilate, as Caiaphas, as Peter, Jin Ha as Annas, and Erik Gronwall as Simon Zealotes.
