The 2025 West End cast of Operation Mincemeat performs for VE Day on BBC1. BBC1

The West End cast of the Olivier-winning musical Operation Mincemeat joined BBC1 May 8 to mark VE Day with an emotional performance of the musical's "Sail On."

Watch the performance, via an Instagram post from one of the show's original stars and co-writers, Natasha Hodgson, below.

Written by U.K. comedy group SpitLip (comprising David Cumming, Felix Hagan, Hodgson, and Zo毛 Roberts), Operation Mincemeat is the 2024 Olivier winner for Best New Musical, and continues its London run at the Fortune Theatre.

The recent Broadway transfer, at the Golden Theatre, is a 2025 Tony nominee for Best Musical, with its entire original cast鈥攊ncluding Cumming, Hodgson, and Roberts, joined by Claire-Marie Hall and Olivier winner Jak Malone鈥攔eprising their performances.

The West End company currently features Geri Allen, Christian Andrews, Se谩n Carey, Charlotte Hanna-Williams, Chl枚e Hart, Madeleine Jackson-Smith, George Jennings, Jonty Peach, and Holly Sumpton.

The show tells a wacky, stranger-than-fiction story that is somehow a completely true tale, following a World War II scheme in which British Intelligence officials dressed up a corpse as an officer in the Royal Marines in order to fool the German government into believing an Allied attack on Sicily was imminent, covering up their true plans to invade Greece and Sardinia in the process. Spoiler alert鈥攊t actually worked.

The show is directed by Robert Hastie, leading a creative team that also includes choreographer Jenny Arnold, music director and supervisor Joe Bunker, orchestrator Steve Sidwell, set and costume designer Ben Stones, lighting designer Mark Henderson, and sound designer Mike Walker.
