The Geffen Playhouse production of Edward Albee鈥檚 Tony-winning Who鈥檚 Afraid of VirginiaWoolf? officially opens April 28 in the Gil Cates Theater following previews that began April 19.
Directed by Gordon Greenberg (Guys and Dolls, Irving Berlin鈥檚 Holiday Inn), the production continues through May 22.
The cast features Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal, bash) as Martha, Zachary Quinto (Star Trek, The Boys in the Band) as George, Graham Phillips (13: The Musical, The Good Wife) as Nick, and Aimee Carrero (The Portuguese Kid, WhatRhymeswithAmerica) as Honey.
For the uninitiated, Albee鈥檚 play follows an older married couple (Martha and George) who invite a younger pair over for drinks and games. As the night wears on, dark secrets begin to spill out, sending both relationships on a destructive path.
The 60th anniversary production also has scenic design by Wilson Chin, costume design by Alejo Vietti, lighting design by Elizabeth Harper, original music and sound design by Lindsay Jones, fight direction by Steve Rankin, and intimacy direction by Mia Schachter. The dramaturg is Sarah Rose Leonard, the production stage manager is J. Jason Daunter, and the assistant stage manager is Kyrsten Goodrich with casting by Phyllis Schuringa.
