Position Overview:

The National Tour of Les Misérables, LMS22 Touring, LLC is seeking applications for all positions –Department Heads and Assistants in the departments of: Audio, Carpentry/Automation, Electrician/Video, Hair/Makeup, Props, Wardrobe and Swing Technician.

Role and Responsibilities:

Audio (Head): The Head Audio is responsible for loading in and out the audio package of the show and designating portions of the rig to the audio assistant(s). The A1 also tunes the room to make sure the sound system agrees with the venue’s acoustics and mixes the show.

The Head Audio supervises all the touring crew within the department. In addition to supervising department’s members, they are also responsible for a local crew of four or more audio stagehands during load-in and load-out.

Audio (Assistant): The Assistant Audio is responsible for loading in and out the audio package of the show, specifically the portions of the rig as designated by the Head Audio. This can include and is not limited to: speaker towers, center cluster, microphones, band seating. The Assistant Audio will be required to mix the show.

The Assistant Audio supervises at least four local audio stagehands that will help assist in loading in and out the show. They are also responsible for at least one local crew member during the performances.

Carpentry (Head): The Head Carpenter is responsible for advancing with venues, loading in and out the show, ensuring the performances run safely, acting as the supervisor for the touring crew (between eight and sixteen people), and is ultimately the supervisor of the local provided labor crew of thirty-five to sixty people. This position is the supervisor of every member in all technical departments.

Carpentry / Automation (Assistant): Automation Technician sets up all overhead and deck automation in the show with assistance from his team of local carpenters. Once loaded in, they run a safety check of the entire system. During performances, the automation tech operates the console which controls all automation effects.

The Automation Technician supervises four or more local carpentry crew members during load-in and load-out.

Carpentry / Flyperson (Assistant): The Flyperson is responsible for loading in and out the physical elements of the show including but not limited to: overhead scenery, show deck, and ground supported scenery. They will also run the fly rail during performances by relaying cue information to a team of local flypersons.

The Flyperson supervises at least four local carpentry crew members during load-in and load-out. They are also responsible for at least three local crew member during performances.

Electrician (Head): Head Electrician is responsible for loading in and out the lighting package of the show and designating portions of the rig to the electrics assistant(s). This can include but is not limited to: overhead lighting (LX) package, Front of House (FOH) LX, and set electrics. Also running a show track which traditionally consists of operating the lighting console and taking show cues from the calling Stage Manager (SM) on headset.

The Head Electrician supervises all the touring crew within the department. In addition to supervising the department’s members, they also are responsible for a local crew of twelve or more electricians during load-in and load-out.

Electrician (Assistant): The Follow Spot Operator is responsible for loading in and out the lighting package of the show, specifically the portions of the rig as designated by the head electrician. This can include and is not limited to: overhead LX package, FOH lights, and set electrics.

The Follow Spot Operator supervises at least four local electricians that will help assist in loading in and out the show. They are also responsible for at least one local crew member during the performances.

Hair/Makeup (Head): The Hair/Makeup Supervisor is responsible for the care, management, maintenance, and organization of hairstyles including haircuts and hair color dyeing, wigs, and makeup. They must safely load in and out of various venues and take lead on training the local labor. A current cosmetology license and theatrical wig experience is preferred.

The Hair/Makeup Supervisor is in charge of all the touring crew within their department. In addition to supervising their department’s members, they are also responsible for a local crew of stagehands during load-in and load-out as well as performances.

Hair/Makeup (Assistant): The Assistant Hair/Makeup Supervisor is responsible for loading in and out the show, as well as running a show track and assisting the Wigs Supervisor with any hair related tasks.

The Assistant Hair/Makeup Supervisor is in charge of a team of local stagehands that will help assist in loading in and out the show. They are also responsible for the locals during performances.

Props (Head): The Head Props is responsible for loading in and out the props package of the show and designating portions of it to their assistant(s). They also preset props, teach local stagehands the track, and run the deck to ensure scene changes occur smoothly and safely.

The Head Props supervises all the touring crew within the department. In addition to supervising the department’s members, they also are responsible for a local crew of four or more props stagehands during load-in and load-out as well as performances.

Props (Assistant): The Assistant Props is responsible for loading in and out the props package of the show, specifically the portions of the package as designated by the Head Props. This can include but is not limited to: stage props, road boxes, band gear, gondolas, management, merchandise and truck loading.

The Assistant Props supervises at least four local props stagehands that will help assist in loading in and out the show. They are also responsible for at least four local crew member during the performances.

Wardrobe (Head): The Wardrobe Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all wardrobe related activities including costume maintenance, pre and post show needs for technical processes, and on tour. They will safely load-in and out of various venues and take lead on training the local labor. In some circumstances, costume construction during the tour may be necessary.

The Wardrobe Supervisor oversees all the touring crew within their department. In addition to supervising their department’s members, they also are responsible for a local crew of four or more during load-in and load-out as well as performances.

Wardrobe (Assistant): The Assistant Wardrobe Supervisor is responsible for loading in and out the show, as well as running a show track and assisting the Wardrobe Supervisor with wardrobe related tasks.

The Assistant Wardrobe Supervisor is in charge of at least four local dressers that will help assist in loading in and out the show. They are also responsible for the locals during performances.

Swing (Assistant): The Swing Tech is responsible for loading in and out the physical elements of the show in whatever department previously agreed upon. They will function in that same department for all load-ins and outs (unless an emergency) but will learn at least one show track in each of the other departments. Production Management and the Head Carpenter will help identify and set up a schedule to teach each of the other tracks.

The Swing Technician supervises several different local crew members throughout the course of an engagement. Depending on the department they are covering, they could oversee anywhere from one to twelve different local crew members for load-ins, load-outs, and performances.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

· Team player, able to work long hours in very close quarters with many different types of passionate personalities

· Touring experience is preferred but not required.

· At least Two (2) years experience in the requested Department or Three (3) years of related experience in a technical role within a theatrical operation.

· Excellent communication skills

Salary:

Salary includes Base Salary plus all applicable overtime and overage participation per IATSE/Non-League SET Agreement.

Base Salary: Department Heads: $1,600, Assistants: $1,500
