The musical based on James Jones' 1951 debut novel that's best known for the 1953 Oscar-winning film that starred , , , , and Donna Reed, began London performances Sept. 30, 2013, at the Shaftsbury Theatre, prior to an official opening Oct. 23. It concluded its London run March 29, 2014.
The U.S. screenings take place Oct. 2, Oct. 5 and Oct. 9. Creative team members have stated that they are hopeful the production will have a future U.S. life. A release announcing the cinematic broadcast of From Here to Eternity stated that the musical is anticipating a 2015 Broadway run.
No official Broadway plans have been announced.
The London production was led by Darius Campbell as Warden, as Prewitt, Ryan Sampson as Maggie, Siubhan Harrison as Lorene and Rebecca Thornill as Karen.
It was directed by Tamara Harvey, designed by and choreographed by Javier de Frutos. It is produced by Tim Rice and Lee Menzies for Eternity Productions Limited.
Songs included are "Fight the Fight," "G Company Blues," "You Got the Money" and "More than America."
From Here to Eternity marks Rice's first new London musical in 13 years. He is the lyricist of such works as , Chess, , and .
