The 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School has not been forgotten by parents, friends, or supporters, some of them in the theatre community.
Tony Award winner Cady Huffman (The Producers), Drama Desk Award nominee A.J. Shively (Bright Star), Sean McDermott (Miss Saigon), and other Broadway stars will gather at New York鈥檚 Feinstein鈥檚/54 Below 7 PM November 2 for a A Benefit for The Jessica Rekos Foundation, which celebrates the life and spirit of the six-year-old who was one of the victims that day.
Celebrities will perform songs 鈥渢hat have personally touched and inspired them.鈥� Other guest performers include Lori Hammel (Mamma Mia!), Kristy Cates (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Christiana Cole, Alex Goley, Cali Elizabeth Moore, Annie Watkins, Sean McDermott (Miss Saigon), Aaron Phillips, and Eliseo Roman (On Your Feet!).
Part of the proceeds will go to the which creates and funds programs and events that allow others to experience the magic of horses, as Rekos did, and to continue her whale 鈥渞esearch鈥� through study and conservation efforts. The foundation also provides financial assistance to augment security at schools.
