Off-Broadway's upcoming Andrew Scott-led solo version of Uncle Vanya has unveiled a digital lottery and cancellation line, offering theatergoers some of the most inexpensive options for getting into a performance.
Vanya is set to begin performances at the Lucille Lortel Theatre March 11 ahead of a March 18 opening night, with an extended run continuing through May 11. Transferring from London's West End, the revival will feature Andrew Scott reprising his performance in Simon Stephens' solo adaptation of the Chekhov classic. Scott, who was Olivier-nominated for his work, takes on every role in the Chekhov play, about a family beset by secrets, illicit love interests, and deep divides over their burdensome estate. Scott and Stephens previously collaborated on Sea Wall and Birdland following the short film The Hope Rooms. Read reviews from the West End bow here.
A digital lottery, run via the TodayTix app, will offer theatregoers a chance at winning the opportunity to buy $40 tickets to the show, up to two per winner. Entries will be accepted beginning at midnight ET Sunday for the upcoming week's performances, with each performance's lottery closing at 1 PM ET the day prior.
The production will also offer its digital cancellation line via TodayTix app, releasing same-day tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. Those tickets will be available beginning at 4 PM ET on the day of each performance, with their availability ending at 6 PM ET.
Sam Yates will be back to direct, alongside designer Rosanna Vize. The creative team will also include lighting designer James Farncombe, sound designer Dan Balfour, video designer Jack Phelan, movement director Michela Meazza, composer Kelly Moran, and costume designer Natalie Pryce. Wessex Grove, Gavin Kalin Productions, and Kater Gordon are again producing.
