Casting is now complete for Second Stage's production of Amy Berryman鈥檚 Walden, which will begin previews October 16 prior to an official opening November 7 at Off-Broadway Tony Kiser Theater.
Newly announced for the Whitney White-directed production is Motell Foster (La Cocina, Clickbait, Othello), who joins previously announced actors Emmy Rossum (Shameless, The Phantom of the Opera) and Zo毛 Winters (Success, Heroes of the Fourth Turning), who will play two estranged sisters struggling to align.
Set in the near future, Walden follows Stella (Rossum) and her fianc茅 Bryan (Foster), who are waiting at their cabin for Stella鈥檚 estranged twin sister, Cassie (Winters). Raised by their astronaut father to be NASA scientists, the twins have taken different paths: Cassie has just returned from a successful moon mission, while Stella has left NASA behind. When they reunite, old conflicts reignite, forcing the sisters to choose between staying on Earth or pursuing a future in space.
Walden received its world premiere, presented by Sonia Friedman Productions, in May 2021 at London's Harold Pinter Theatre, followed by its American premiere at TheatreWorks in Hartford, Connecticut, in August 2021.
The Off-Broadway production will feature scenic design by Matt Saunders, costume design by Qween Jean, lighting design by Adam Honor茅, and sound design by Lee Kinney. Casting is by Taylor Williams.
