New musical Bordello will receive two public workshop performances at the Royal Academy of Dance in London later this month.
The performances, which will be held at 2:30 PM on March 20 and 21, invite audiences to attend and provide feedback as a part of the development process. All tickets to the workshop performances are priced at 拢10.
Written by co-book writers and lyricists Barbara Bellman and Joan Ross Sorkin, and composer Emiliano Messiez, the musical is inspired by historical events surrounding the real-life woman Raquel Liberman, an immigrant Polish woman who was forced into prostitution upon her arrival in Argentina. Her denouncement of her traffickers brought down an international Jewish sex-trafficking ring.
The workshop performances are presented in partnership with Hope for Justice, a charity fighting human trafficking and modern slavery, identifying victims, supporting survivors and preventing exploitation all around the world.
The readings will star Tess Primack (Fiddler on the Roof, Jekyll & Hyde), Gina Murray (Chicago, Hairspray), Jos Slovick (Beautiful, Once) and Greg Bernstein (Fiddler on the Roof, Mary Poppins), alongside Danny Becker (Chicago), Georgia Permutt (Footloose), Natalie Green (Les Mis茅rables), Ralph Bogard (Fiddler on the Roof), Tori Scott (Guys and Dolls), Lauren Ingram (Rocky Horror Show), Sam Baumal (Sunday in the Park with George), Natasha Karp (The Kite Runner), Nitai Levi (Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812), Natasha Spencer-Levy (Highway Man), and Izzi Levine (Spring Awakening).
Featuring a blend of tango and klezmer, the workshop production will include Adrien Bariki-Alaoui and Iro Davlanti-Lo of The Argentine Tango School and the London Musical Theatre Orchestra.
Directed and choreographed by Racky Plews, the creative team includes music supervisor Steven Gross, co-orchestrator and vocal arranger PJ McEvoy, costume and video designer Sam Vincent, sound designer Tim Deiling, and lighting designer Stephanie Martis, with associate choreographer and director Tim Frost. Casting is by Jim Arnold, and CDM Productions is the general manager.
