Tony nominee Robin de Jes煤s will host the inaugural Latin茅 Musical Theatre Lab benefit concert September 26 at the Soho Playhouse.
The is a new development organization that advocates for new Latin茅-written works of musical theatre. The benefit concert will feature more than a dozen new songs by 19 different Latin茅 composers and lyricists. Rebecca Aparicio will direct the evening with music direction by Saul Nache.
Attendees can expect to hear the works of Jaime Lozano, Florencia Cuenca, Robi Hager, Erlina Ortiz, Joey Contreras, Amanda D鈥橝rchangelis, David Davila, Rebecca Murillo, Julio Vaquero Ramos, Aliza Sotsky, Jacinta Clusellas, Tatiana Pandiani, Melis Aker, K. Hernandez Friend, Sim贸n G贸mez Villegas, Christin Cato, Desmar Guevara, Nyseli Vega, Brian Quijada, Juli谩n Mesri, and David Gomez.
Featured performers will include Mauricio Martinez, Shereen Pimentel, Michelle Aravena, Katerina McCrimmon, Amanda Lopez, Ianne Fields Stewart, Alexis Semevolos-Velazquez, Kat Rodriguez, Michael De Souza, Nick Martinez, Robert Ariza, and Mika Secada.
The performers will be backed by Matt Pinto on guitar, Jared Cavazos on bass, Joel Mateo and Reinaldo de Jes煤s on percussion, and Saul Nache on piano. Jared Cavazos is the music assistant.
The evening will include a cocktail hour, open drink service, hors d'oeuvres, and a post-concert fiesta bailando. All proceeds will support the free programs offered by the LMTL. Formed in 2021, the LMTL has supported the development of more than 24 new musicals.
