Bareilles is appearing in a talk with Ben Folds about her book "Sounds Like Me: My Life (so far) in Song," a compilation of essays that share the intimate stories behind some of her top hits.
In addition to her book, Bareilles has also announced her fifth studio recording, "What's Inside: Songs from Waitress," which features tunes from the forthcoming Broadway musical, as sung by the composer. The album is due Nov. 6, but Bareilles released a single from the album, "She Used to Be Mine," Sept. 25. .
"I fell more deeply in love with the writing of the musical Waitress than I had ever imagined,鈥 Bareilles said in a statement about the new album. "It proved impossible for me to imagine handing over the songs to the show before selfishly finding a way to sing them myself."
Waitress is scheduled to begin Broadway previews in March 2016 prior to an official opening night in April at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. .
