News The Crucible Revival Ends Broadway Run The revival of Arthur Miller鈥檚 Tony-winning 1953 dramatization of the Salem witch trials stars Sophie Okonedo, Saoirse Ronan and Ben Whishaw.

Belgian director Ivo van Hove, who also staged the gripping Broadway revival of Miller鈥檚 A View from the Bridge this season, helms the production that began previews March 1. It officially opened March 31.

The production has run 32 previews and 125 regular performances.

Miller鈥檚 play, an indictment of the political paranoia that defined the McCarthy-era鈥檚 anti-communist 鈥渨itch hunts鈥� that cost many their livelihoods, won the 1953 Tony Award for Best Play. This production marks the play鈥檚 fifth Broadway revival.

Two-time Oscar nominee Ronan (Brooklyn) plays Abigail Williams, with Wishaw (The Hour) as John Proctor, Tony winner (A Raisin in the Sun) as Elizabeth Proctor and (Game of Thrones, The Seafarer) as Deputy Governor Danforth. The cast also features Bill Camp (as Reverend John Hale), Jim Norton (as Giles Corey), Tavi Gevinson (as Mary Warren) and Jason Butler Harner (as Reverend Parris).

The company also includes Tina Benko (as Ann Putnam/Sarah Goode), Teagle Bougere (as Judge Hawthorne), Michael Braun (as Ezekiel Cheever), Jenny Jules (as Tituba), Thomas Jay Ryan (as Thomas Putnam), Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut (as Susanna Walcott), Elizabeth Teeter (as Betty Parris), Ray Anthony Thomas (as Francis Nurse), Brenda Wehle (as Rebecca Nurse) and Erin Wilhelmi (as Mercy Lewis).

, who also presented this season鈥檚 revival of A View from the Bridge, produces. His upcoming Broadway slate includes this spring鈥檚 Shuffle Along, Or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed; and a 2017 revival of Hello, Dolly! starring Bette Midler.

The Crucible has original music by composer .

The production has scenic and lighting design by longtime van Hove collaborator Jan Versweyveld and costume design by Wojciech Dziedzic. The casting directors are Heidi Griffiths and Zoe Rotter.

The play was nominated for four 2016 Tony Award nominations, including Best Revival.
