News of the workshop follows a recent court decision concerning a lawsuit Bruce Singer filed against Henry Bushkin, longtime lawyer of the late Carson. Singer claimed he and Bushkin were partners and was therefore owed money from Bushkin's book, "Johnny Carson." A Los Angeles judge ruled against Singer.
According to a previous Equity casting notice for a September 2014 workshop, Carson has a book by Jamie Malanowski and Bushkin with music by and lyrics by Katsaros and Malanowski.
Characters in the new musical include Johnny Carson, , Rick Carson, Ed McMahon, Ruth Carson, Joanne Carson, Alexis Carson, Fred Silverman and more.
The late Johnny Carson was host of NBC's "The Tonight Show" from 1962-1992. He died Jan. 23, 2005.
