DESCRIPTION

Now taking submissions for Musical Directors for our 2025 season. Including "Beehive!", Halloween melodrama, and "White Christmas". Someone proficient on the piano to teach music during rehearsals, and accompany the shows. There is no orchestra, everything is piano accompaniment on a Clavinova. You would have the option to add in tracks/instrumentation on the Clavinova if you so choose.

Looking for someone relaible, and pleasant to work with. While not part of the show, you are playing onstage and visible to the audience the entire time. Should be able to rock out 60's tunes for "Beehive", have a good feel for underscoring during the melodrama, but good with classic musical theatre as well for Irving Berlin. This may include a small pre-show (10-15 minutes) in which pianists have played some original tunes as the audience comes in, during Halloween, playing familiar holiday tunes the audience would recognize and maybe sing along to. Tip jar is provided for any pre-show work.

The Butte Theatre is nestled in Cripple Creek, in the Rocky Mountains about 1 hour from Colorado Springs, at 9,594 feet above sea level. Breathtaking views, lots of fresh air, a wonderful community that supports the theatre, and lot of casinos. Pay is negotiable depending on experience, single occupancy housing is provided, as well as a travel stipend of $200. Housing is in walking distance, as the entire town of Cripple Creek is less than 2 miles long. Depends on how much of a walker you are, as it is nearly 10,000 feet above sea level.

Rehearsals typically run about two and a half weeks. Usually 25-35 hours a week for rehearsal depending on the complexity of the show. Once shows begin, weekly time at the theatre goes to roughly 10- 15 hours a week.
