Tony and Oscar nominee Annette Bening has been reelected Chair of the Board of the Entertainment Community Fund.
The national human services organization, which addresses the needs of those working in the performing arts, also announced six new members to its Board of Trustees: Kristin Caskey, Ariana DeBose, Robert Greenblatt, Greg Nobile, Wendy Orshan, and Michael Shur.
Current Board members Laura Penn and Lauren Reid were elected secretary and treasurer, respectively, at the Fund's annual board meeting June 11.
Bening, who succeeded Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell as Chair of the Board in 2023, stated, 鈥淲e welcome the addition of this robust and talented group of professionals who, through their respective careers, have already made impactful contributions to the entertainment industry. Their expertise and leadership exemplify the Fund鈥檚 values and mission, and they will help us strengthen our service to and relationship with the performing arts community. They understand firsthand the unique challenges of a life in the arts and recognize the vital role the Fund plays in serving as a pillar that people in the industry can depend on.鈥
The Fund also successfully concluded its Essential fundraising campaign April 30, raising $164 million and surpassing its three-year goal of $160 million. Dollars raised are being utilized for significant expansion of services, for an emergency relief reserve fund, and to address mission-critical capital projects.
Essential campaign leadership included Honorary Co-Chairs Bening and Mitchell and Co-Chairs Hugh Jackman, Chris Keyser, Kenny Leon, Matthew Loeb, Shonda Rhimes, and Robert Wankel.
Bening is a two-time Tony nominee (All My Sons, Coastal Disturbances) and a four-time Oscar nominee (The Kids Are Alright, Being Julia, American Beauty, The Grifters) as well as a two-time Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award winner.
