Mark Corallo's musical comedy Mike and Mindy's Wild Weekend Jam will return Off-Broadway this summer, running at The Mainstage at the Players Theatre June 19-July 20. The show initially ran Off-Broadway in 2021 under the title Mike and Mindy's Crazy Karaoke Party, and this iteration promises a "bigger and bolder" production jam-packed with surprises.
Created by Mark Corallo and co-written and produced by Corallo with Eileen Nelson, the musical follows two high school sweethearts in '90s Brooklyn dreaming of becoming music stars (despite working as a plumber and a hairdresser). The pair regularly indulge in their "wild weekend jams," a chaotic get-together with music, dancing, and eccentric relatives. But when word gets out that a top music producer might stop by, tensions arise as Mindy fears her old-school Italian father may disrupt the opportunity.
The cast will be led by Justin Turner as Mike and Mackenzie Godfrey as Mindy. They will be joined by Emily DeMaio as Aunt Donatella, Sonya Godfrey as Claire, Abril L贸pez Ruiz as Nina, Paul Green as Mr. C, Cydney Heard as Lisa, Carmen Romano as Don, Eric May Liu as Peter, and John Paul Durazzo as Pat. Sophia Ross Alvarez will be in the ensemble.
Peggy Lee Brennan will direct the production, which will feature choreography by AJ Heard and an original score by songwriters Bucky Heard and Timothy D. Lee of The Righteous Brothers.
