Awards Norm Lewis Will Announce Nominees for 2025 Drama Desk Awards

Frank DiLella and Rocco Vertuccio will also be part of the nominations event.

Tony nominee Norm Lewis (Porgy and Bess, The Phantom of the Opera), who can currently be seen Off-Broadway in Ceremonies in Old Dark Men, will announce the nominees for the 69th Annual Drama DeskAwards April 30 at 12:50 PM ET on Spectrum News NY1. 

The Broadway favorite will make the announcement alongside Spectrum News NY1 On Stage host Frank DiLella and NY1 anchor Rocco Vertuccio.

The Drama Desk Awards are the only major New York City theatre awards for which productions on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off Broadway compete against each other in the same categories. As was the case last year, all performance categories are gender-free. The updated gender-free categories are Outstanding Lead Performance in a Play, Outstanding Lead Performance in a Musical, Outstanding Featured Performance in a Play, and Outstanding Featured Performance in a Musical.

The 2024-25 Drama Desk Nominating Committee comprises Chair Martha Wade Steketee, Linda Armstrong, Daniel Dinero, Peter Filichia, Kenji Fujishima, Raven Snook, and Charles Wright.

As previously reported, Debra Messing (Shit. Meet. Fan., Birthday Candles, Will & Grace) and Tituss Burgess (Oh, Mary!; Guys and Dolls; The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) will host the 2025 Annual Drama Desk Awards, benefiting the Entertainment Community Fund, June 1 at 6:15 PM at NYU Skirball.

The creative team for this year鈥檚 ceremony includes director Lorin Latarro, writers Steve Rosen and David Rossmer, musical director Dan Lipton, lighting designer Abby May, production manager and sound designer Five Ohm, video designer Ido Levran, and production manager Ira Mont.

David Barbour and Charles Wright are the Drama Desk co-presidents.

The 69th Annual Drama Desk Awards are executive-produced by Staci Levine and Jessica R. Jenen.
