SYNOPSIS: 鈥淓nglish Only" is the mantra that rules one classroom in Iran, where four adult students prepare for the TOEFL 鈥� the Test of English as a Foreign Language. Sanaz Toossi鈥檚 intricate, hilarious, and profound ENGLISH is a Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play recipient, Obie Award Winner for Best New American Play, and winner of the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
SEEKING:
[ELHAM] 28-year-old, female-identifying Iranian med student living in Karaj, Iran. Aced her MCATS, but needs to pass the TOEFL to qualify as a paid teaching assistant, and time is running out. Has big dreams and is not afraid to be loud. Smart. Confident. Easily frustrated. Bulldozes through English. Very thick Iranian accent when meant to be speaking English. Farsi fluent.

[OMID] 29-year-old, male-identifying Iranian student. Good-looking. Something of a showoff. Bold. Surprisingly advanced. Very light, almost imperceptible Iranian accent when meant to be speaking English.
