SYNOPSIS
Depravity and enlightenment, protection and liberation, love bombing / situationships / ghosting / et al 鈥� ONLY UGLY GUYS delivers a stark reflection on how affection manifests in a non-committal, algorithm-fueled culture. Told through four short stories from the unique, unreliable perspective of each character, ONLY UGLY GUYS experiments with what theater can be, using modern romance as its medium. Placing the audience in the role of voyeur, confidante, enabler, and friend, these scenarios interrogate, 鈥淲hen you have access to anything, what do you really want?鈥�

Adam*
Male-identifying, mid 20s. The smartest ass in the room. Host of the podcast 鈥淧repared Fruit,鈥� self-styled queer influencer, might go to grad school for sex education. In an Instacouple with Brad but isn鈥檛 sure he can commit to the picture perfect lifestyle. Recently played on Spotify includes Kate Bush, FKA Twigs, Scissor Sisters, and his own podcast.
Brad
Male-identifying, late 30s-early 40s. Has some kind of boring basic job and makes a lot of money. Came out later in life; dates much younger guys in an effort to recapture his lost youth. Implodes his relationship with Adam to chase Ciprian. Recently played on Apple Music includes Benson Boone, Drake, Bruno Mars, and a yacht rock playlist.
Ciprian
Male-identifying, 18-early 20s. Textbook definition Demon Twink. Just sort of showed up one day. Would sell his soul for a double vodka soda and attention from a muscle stud. Intensely dickmatized by Dean, who isn鈥檛 even sure he鈥檚 met Ciprian before. Recently played on YouTube Music includes Kim Petras, Nicki Minaj, Slayyyter, and a 12-hour white noise for sleeping video.
Dean*
Male-identifying, mid 20s. The himbo with a heart of gold. Barbacks at a gay club and go-go dances on the weekends. Constantly in a tenuous state of sobriety. Still harbors feelings for his ex, Adam, even though they broke up a while ago. Recently played on Tidal includes Charli XCX, PinkPantheress, Ti毛sto, and half of a self-help audiobook.
