The Production is currently seeking applications for the Production Carpenter position for our upcoming North American Bus & Truck tour. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, scenic carpentry experience, and is excited to be part of a collaborative, creative, and technically complex touring production.
Key Dates:
Pre-Production Begins: June 2025 (flexible, remote + shop work)
Shop Prep: July 1st 鈥� 3rd
Tech: July 7鈥�20, 2025 鈥� Richmond, KY
Opening: July 22, 2025 鈥� Washington, D.C.
Tour Continues: Through May 2026.
Contract Information:
This position operates under the IATSE Bus and Truck Pink Contract, salaried at $2,200/week during technical production periods. Pre-production and shop work are compensated separately.
Compensation & Work Structure:
Pre-Production Fee: $2,500 flat fee (for paperwork, bids, procurement, etc.)
Shop Work: $400/day
Tech & Touring (Advance Carpenter): $2,200/week + IATSE benefits
Travel, Per Diem, and Housing: Provided per IATSE standards
Core Responsibilities:
Lead scenic coordination between designers, shops, and producers
Oversee construction, prep, and quality control of scenic elements
Hire and manage carpentry crew in consultation with General Management
Supervise scenic load-ins, tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and previews
Maintain and repair all carpentry elements throughout the run
Manage post-tour load out, returns, and restock of all rented items
Ensure safe and efficient workflow across all scenic activities
Participate in venue advances and local labor coordination
Track project-related expenses and submit timely reimbursements
What We鈥檙e Looking For:
Prior touring experience in a carpentry lead or production management role
Strong knowledge of scenic construction and theatrical standards
Working familiarity with IATSE contracts and work rules
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
Comfortable managing shifting schedules and creative problem-solving
Willing and able to travel for the full duration of the tour
