JOB TITLE: Mechanist/Video Operator
REPORTS TO: Production Manager & Producer

COMPENSATION RATE: $1,000 - $1,250 /wk.
UNION: Non-Union
LOCATION: National Tour

POSITION SUMMARY:
Showcase Entertainment Group is searching for a Lighting & Cue Operator to join our national tour of The Cat in the Hat. The Lighting & Cue Operator will work collaboratively with the Production Manager, Producer, and touring crew members. This production is currently touring in New Zealand and will be embarking on its first tour of the United States in Spring 2026.

RESPONSIBILITIES: (Including but not limited to the following)

Lead, participate, and oversee the unpacking of all equipment to ensure all equipment is safe and secure.

Lead, participate, and oversee the setup of all set as required with venue staff

Lead the setup of projection/video equipment + daily mapping/line up of projection inside of Resolume Arena.

Monitor the video server throughout the show

Assist Stage Managers with repairs & maintenance of set and props. This includes basic carpentry, painting, gluing, and general fixing.

Assist Technician with the repairs & maintenance of technical equipment where needed.

Troubleshoot problems and issues during the show

Participate in minor show cues during the show as required

Lead, participate, and oversee the dismantling of all set elements as required

Lead, participate, and oversee the packing of all equipment into the container to ensure all equipment is safe and secure.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have a problem-solving mindset and be able to work quickly and efficiently under pressure. Experience in rigging projectors, projection mapping, and Resolume Arena is highly desired.

Relevant professional theatre experience (three or more years preferred).

Strong team players who work well under pressure

Work collaboratively as a team member and maintain a positive attitude

Strong written and verbal communication skills

The ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull 100 lbs, stand for extended periods of time (3+ hours), and navigate multiple levels of stairs.

Valid driver鈥檚 license required.
