Built in 1917, the Bijou Theatre was the smallest of the Shubert theatres. In 1957, Eugene O鈥橬eill鈥檚 A Moon for the Misbegotten premiered here. The theatre was closed for renovations in 1959, and after reopening it was plagued by flops. In 1982 the Bijou was torn down, along with four other Broadway theatres, to make way for the Marriott Marquis.
