The new musical adaptation of Shannon Hale's Austenland will premiere later this spring via a concert production in London, and a full cast has been compiled!
Presented by DEM Productions on behalf of Writers鈥� Cage, two concert performances will be staged at the Savoy Theatre on March 24.
Austenland follows Jane Hayes, who has spent her life yearning for the fictional Mr. Darcy, measuring every man against him. When her great aunt's will grants her an all-expenses-paid trip to Austenland, the immersive British regency-themed retreat, she finally feels her dream is about to come true...but finds that the perfect fictional love that she's longed for may not be the real love that she needs.
The concerts will star Lucie Jones (Wicked) as Jane Hayes, with Stephenson Ardern-Sodje as Captain East (Passing Strange), Laura Baldwin as Miss Heartwright (Waitress), Oli Higginson as Nobley (The Last Five Years), George Ioannides as Hot Darcy/Colonel Andrews (Guys and Dolls), Cassidy Janson as Aunt Carolyn/Wattlesbrook (& Juliet), Idriss Kargbo as Manly (I Wish You Well: The Gwyneth Paltrow Ski Trial Musical), Daniel Krikler as Martin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) and Alex Young as Elizabeth Charming (Stranger Things: The First Shadow).
The cast is completed by Ashley Gilmour (My Fair Lady), Lily Laight (The Artist), Ying Ue Li (My Fair Lady), Amonik Melaco (Heathers The Musical), Nathan Ryles (Burlesque) and Hollie Jane Stephens (Guys and Dolls).
The new musical, based on Hale鈥檚 2007 novel, is the third musical adaptation from the writers of The Book Thief and Between the Lines, with book writers Jodi Picoult (My Sister's Keeper & Small Great Things) and Timothy Allen McDonald (Willy Wonka, James and the Giant Peach) and composer lyricist team Kate Anderson and Elyssa Samsel (Central Park, Olaf's Frozen Adventure).
Austenland will be directed by Jonathan O鈥橞oyle (Cruel Intentions) with choreography by Joanna Goodwin (My Fair Lady, An Officer and a Gentleman), musical supervision, orchestration and arrangements by Matthew Malone (The Book Thief, Carousel), music direction by Natalie Pound (The Creakers, Lovestuck), design by Polly Sullivan (Cruel Intentions, Describe the Night), lighting by Jack Weir (The Woman In White), and sound by Sound Quiet Time (Clueless, Manic Street Creature)
