Industry News Watch Joshua Turchin鈥檚 Touching Song From the Los Angeles TrevorLIVE Concert The young star sang a number from the score of Trevor The Musical at the event honoring Kristin Chenoweth and Tom Ford.

The Trevor Project, the organization focused on ending suicide among LGBTQ Youth, honored Tony Award winner and filmmaker-designer Tom Ford at its December 3 gala, TrevorLIVE at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, California.

Chenoweth accepted the organization鈥檚 Icon Award; Ford got the Hero Award. Guest performers included Shoshana Bean, Carol Burnett, and the band Garbage.

One of the high points of the gala came when 11-year-old Joshua Turchin sang 鈥淪tranger,鈥� a heartfelt song from Trevor the Musical, which recently completed at the Alexandra C. and John D. Nichols Theatre in Glencoe, Illinois.

The song has lyrics by Dan Collins and music by Julianne Wick Davis. Based on an Oscar-winning short film, Trevor: The Musical tells the story of a 13-year-old boy who realizes he is homosexual and faces prejudice from his parents and friends. Turchin has been featured in two national tours of A Christmas Story the Musical, and appeared in the YouTube video singing the number, which he composed himself.

The musical has been mentioned for a Broadway run.

The Trevor Project CEO and executive director Amit Paley called Chenoweth and Ford 鈥渢rue role models for LGBTQ young people and allies.鈥� He said, 鈥淜ristin has consistently and unequivocally voiced her support of LGBTQ equality and is a longtime supporter of The Trevor Project. The awareness and support Tom and Kristin bring to The Trevor Project's programs will help us save even more LGBTQ young lives.鈥�

Chenoweth, whose Broadway roles include the original Glinda in , and who currently co-stars on TV鈥檚 American Gods, said, 鈥淚 can't believe I鈥檓 sharing company with the great artist Tom Ford. We both have similar beliefs and come from a place that loves everybody. I鈥檝e tried to show it to the world through my music, and Mr. Ford certainly does it through his designs and filmmaking.鈥�
