Special Features Where Is the Original Cast of Broadway鈥檚 Hamilton Now?

Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical turns 10. Here's what its cast have been up to.

When Hamilton burst onto the Broadway scene in 2015, the cast was unknown to the pop culture zeitgeist at large鈥攁nd only a few faces were familiar to theatre fans. But the hip-hop musical proved a launchpad for the careers of many of its stars.

Here, ahead of the 10th-anniversary cast reunion performance at the 78th Annual Tony Awards on June 8th, we take a look at the work the original cast (from A. Ham to ensemble members) have done since exiting the Broadway production. Here's where you can find them in movies, on television, and onstage. And if you're feeling wistful, you can always watch them in .

Lin-Manuel Miranda Allison V. Brown

Lin-Manuel Miranda (writer, composer-lyricist, original Alexander Hamilton)

Nobody can say Lin Manuel Miranda doesn鈥檛 stay booked and busy! Since departing Broadway鈥檚 Hamilton July 9, 2016 (after winning a Pulitzer, Tony, and a host of other awards), Miranda has been non-stop. Immediately after Hamilton, he hosted the October 8, 2016, episode of Saturday Night Live, featuring the epic 鈥淐rucible Cast Party鈥濃攅arning an Emmy nomination. In 2017, he received his first Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for Moana. In 2018, he played the leading man in Mary Poppins Returns

A bonafide public figure, Miranda has helped raise millions of dollars and awareness for Puerto Rico after it was ravaged by Hurricane Maria; his single 鈥淎lmost Like Praying鈥 gathered Grammy-winning Latin pop stars to record the original song in support of the U.S. commonwealth. Miranda reprised the role of A. Ham in the 2019 Puerto Rican production of Hamilton

Miranda returned to Broadway in 2021 as creator and producer on the improv show Freestyle Love Supreme (which he also guest-appeared in some nights). The film adaptation of Miranda鈥檚 first Tony-winning musical, In The Heights, debuted in the summer of 2021 (with Miranda making a cameo). Miranda also directed and produced the 2021 movie musical adaptation of Jonathan Larson鈥檚 tick, tick...BOOM!. He was composer and lyricist for animated films Vivo (2021) and Encanto (2022), the latter for which he won, among a slew of other awards, a Grammy for the song 鈥淲e Don鈥檛 Talk About Bruno.鈥 He also contributed the lyrics to the 2023 live-action The Little Mermaid and was the songs producer for the The Lion King live-action prequel, Mufasa: The Lion King. In 2023, Miranda contributed some lyrics to John Kander songs for the Broadway musical New York, New York.

In October 2024, Miranda collaborated with Eisa Davis on concept album Warriors, inspired by the 1979 film The Warriors. Miranda confirmed Warriors will come to the stage. This past winter, Miranda stepped into the Broadway show All In: Comedy About Love for a few weeks. Even more recently, in the past few weeks, as we get closer to the Tonys, Miranda has revived the popular Ham4Ham street performances featuring numerous Tony-nominated shows and performers鈥攕howing that no matter how far he goes, theatre will always be home.
