The American Conservatory Theater production of Eug猫ne Ionesco's Rhinoceros began performances in San Francisco May 29, for a run set to continue through June 23. The production, directed by Frank Galati, stars David Breitbarth, Matt DeCaro, Rona Figueroa, Trish Mulholland, G枚ran Norquist, Danny Scheie, Lauren Spencer, Teddy Spencer, and Jomar Tagatac.
According to production notes, "in the opening moments of Ionesco鈥檚 masterpiece of absurdist satire, a rhinoceros rampages through a village square. At the local caf茅, people argue over what they saw. Was it really a rhino, or just fake news? As the eccentric villagers shed refined fa莽ades for hides and horns鈥攕mashing windows and crushing flowerbeds鈥攔umpled everyman Berenger faces a desperate choice: take a stand against the armored brutes or join the mindless herd?"
