Jak Malone has an apology to make.

The multi-talented performer, who won the 2025 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical for his work on Operation Mincemeat, is sorry. So, so sorry.

"When we did the very first production of [Operation Mincemeat], that we did to 80 seats in London, I suddenly realized, 'Oh, wow, I have thrown every trick I have in my toolkit into this show. Every little thing I could do, every accent I'm really good at, I threw into the show, and they let me do it.' Because I realized, 'I need to do everything I can to keep this role as specific to me as possible, so they don't cast a celebrity in it when it goes to the West End.' It is truly my entire toolkit. And I'm deeply sorry to everybody who has had to sing the role after me. Every time they cast a new Hester, I get a message like, 'What is this?! What is this art?! What are you doing?!' It's nice to be able to showcase everything I have to give, but I am truly sorry as well."
