Tony nominee Kara Young and David Zayas complete the cast of the upcoming Broadway premiere of Martyna Majok's Cost of Living, set to begin previews September 13 at Manhattan Theatre Club鈥檚 Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. The show is slated to open October 3.
The two join the previously announced Gregg Mozgala and Katy Sullivan, who will be reprising their roles from MTC鈥檚 2017 Off-Broadway production of the Pulitzer-winning work. Majok鈥檚 play follows four people in very different circumstances ranging from unemployment to physical disability trying to get by.
Young made her Broadway debut in Lynn Nottage's 颁濒测诲别鈥檚鈥攔eceiving a Tony nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play鈥攁nd starred in the plays The New Englanders, The Revolving Cycles Truly and Steadily Roll'd, Syncing Ink, and Pretty Hunger. Her screen credits include Prime Video鈥檚 Chemical Hearts, Netflix's The Punisher, and the HBO Max original The Staircase.
Zayas starred in Broadway鈥檚 Anna in the Tropics and is best known for his on-screen roles in Dexter, Gotham, and Blue Bloods.
Jo Bonney will direct the production with scenic design by Wilson Chin, costume design by Jessica Pabst, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, sound design by Rob Kaplowitz, original music by Mikaal Sulaiman, and movement by Thomas Schall. The Telsey Office, Caparelliotis Casting, and Kelly Gillespie cast the production. David Lurie-Perret is production stage manager.
Also in MTC鈥檚 upcoming season is the Broadway transfer of Anthony McCarten's The Collaboration, featuring both of its London stars, Jeremy Pope and Paul Bettany. This season鈥檚 Off-Broadway productions include Where the Mountain Meets the Sea, Poor Yella Rednecks, and Summer 1976.
