Choreographer Justin Peck and Patricia Delgado have won the 2025 Tony Award for Best Choreography for their work on Buena Vista Social Club. In the press room for the Tony Awards, the two laid gratitude at the feet of Cuba's current dance scene for inspiring and informing their work, including the vibrant blend of Latin social dance exhibited throughout the show.

"It started from taking a lot of trips to Cuba and getting a sense of that essence," shared Peck to the press pool after winning the honor. "And one thing that became very tough was to have dances everywhere. It's on the streets, it's in the clubs, it's in concert halls. That's something that we channelled, and then spent a lot of time together, finding what a kind of social dance for this show would feel like."

Delgado adds that "We mixed Cuban [dance] styles with ballet and contemporary dance into our perspective for all styles of dance. Our dancers, they're really good at all styles of dance, so we just felt like we could just take it all together and create a new [style]."
